Jon Brooks is the latest addition to the Welden & Coluccio team, bringing the firm a unique set of skills from a career across media and public relations.
Jon has spent the last 15 years working as a journalist and communication specialist and is looking forward to the challenge of working in a busy practice specialising in wills and estates and family law.
“It’s a big change, but a challenge I’m very much looking forward to,” Jon said.
“I’ve known Greg since about 2003, when he was a young lawyer in Port Augusta, and I was cutting my teeth as a journalist at the local paper.
“We played music together in a band, and his family helped welcome me to the local community, having been the new folks in town themselves only a year earlier.”
Following those early days in the media, Jon then went on to forge a successful career in government communications, working as a political speech writer, and later, handling public relations for major government projects, mostly in the environmental sector.
In 2013, he launched a small media consultancy, and once again found himself working with his old band-mate, who had also ventured into business with his partner, Jason Coluccio.
“My first contact with Welden & Coluccio was in 2014, when I was asked to take some portrait photos to help launch the business.
“I was expecting to take some cliched lawyer pictures inside a stuffy library, or in an oak-lined board room, but it was a refreshing surprise when they asked to be photographed outdoors, as friends, in a very natural way.
“I think that speaks volumes about the type of practice Welden & Coluccio is. This is a business built around family, friends and family values. They love what they do, and it shines through in their work.
“I’ve been lucky enough to work with Welden & Coluccio from day one – Jason and Maddalena even had me photograph their wedding – so it’s great to now be sharing an office and see a unique legal practice grow.
“Jason’s a Port Power tragic, so nothing is perfect, but I’m very happy to be a part of the team and I look forward to meeting the Welden & Coluccio family of clients.”
